This is a better terra firma sans mud hike for Sunday. Green Lane will be quite muddy. Shake off the winter cobwebs and icicles for this 12-15 mile country to city hike. We start at Hill House in Chestnut Hill and snake our way through the Wissahickon to the river drives area. From here we walk Kelly Drive or the quieter ridges to the Art Museum area. We then take the Parkway and streets to Reading Terminal. Trail conditions will determine the exact route. Not for people who are out of shape.
As usual we stop at Whole Foods near the Art Museum for lunch. Then we press on to Reading Terminal and Chinatown where you can shop before taking the R7 or R8 back (to the last stop) to Chestnut Hill.
Here's a Google Map link to Hill House. http://local.google.c... Make sure to bring water. Two days before the event I will email a weather update. Have your event fee of $2 ready in dollar bills. No coins, dubloons, or 5's or 10"s.
If you change your mind please change your RSVP. No-shows may be barred from my events. Email or call if you have a problem.
“ It only rained for about 30 minutes. We did a 5 hour loop hike instead of hiking to center city then taking the train back. We hike through Chestnut Hill then took the main path in the Wissahickon to the bike trail. From the bike trail we headed up into the Wissahickon area, then into Manajunk. Walked the length of Manayunk then up Green Lane and back into the park.
The small streams and the Wissahickon were raging with rain waters. Lots of downed trees and branches. ”
