Princeton U. Parking Lot 3 (map)
Last time we visited Princeton the temperature was about 95. We hiked Mountain Lake Park which was great, but never made it to the campus. Well, this time we're heading right to the Princeton Campus and the adjacent parks and sites for a 3-4 hour hike. Afterwards we'll eat at a great inexpensive restaurant in the area. If you like architecture and history as well as exploring, this hike is for you. The terrain should be mostly flat.
We changed the starting point to parking lot 3 on Princeton Campus on Prospect Ave. See link below. Meet outside the parking lot building on Prospect Ave regardless of where you park. If the lot is full, park at another open lot.
From here we start exploring the campus. Connected to campus are a zillion parks and interesting sites: Turning Basin Park, Princeton Battlefield Park, Carson RD Woods, D & R Canal, Tethune Orchards, Historic Overlooks, Jasna Polana, and Carnegie Lake to mention a few. I left out The Instituted for Advanced Study where Einstein and a few other notables spent there days. Of course, if anybody lets us in, we'll take advantage of the situation.
For food afterwards I've identified several great places, but the Blue Point Grill (258 Nassau) wins hands down for price and atmosphere. Need a volunteer reservation person. If weather is a factor we'll split the hike up into 2 parts: 1-3 hours before we eat; 1-2 hours after.
Event Time: 3-4 hours of exploring
Distance: 7-9 miles
Terrain: flat

Two days before event I usually email a weather report.
Please have your event payment in dollar bills ready. No coins or making change for 5's or 20'ties.
If you change your mind please change your RSVP. No-shows may be barred from my events. Email or call if you have a problem.
If the hike is full at the moment, then just check back a day or two before the hike. People always change plans.
Not a good hike for fido.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
Hi, everyone. I mapped the route we took on bikelyDOTcom, with only an approximation of our route through the campus buildings and it looks like we walked 8.5 miles for those of us who went as far as the bridge at the golf course on the towpath. Way to GO!!
