Love being outdoors in a beautiful area? Our regular first saturday of the month work parties, usually in the Wissahickon, give you an excuse to hang around trees doing various types of jobs. It's also a little payback for being able to use this unique and beautiful area.
Come out with your kids and dog any time between 9 and noon. After the work party we often hike in the area. The hike (Beer Hike) starts at 2 from less than a mile away. The Fairmount Park Commission or Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers or other organization run these events. We join up with them.
This Saturday we meet at N Mt Pleasant and Greene Sts, 19118 in W Mt Airy, Carpenters Woods.
We will cut up and remove fallen branches and small trees. And "No", you will not be using cranes, bulldozers, and power saws. That's for the paid employees. We will use loppers and small hand saws to remove smaller debris.
I'll head over to the site around 10 am and will probably leave early because I have another event in the afternoon. Make sure to come over and say "hello" since we will be working in different places with folks from many organizations.
Because this is more of a posting than an event, there will be no charge. I will not take attendance. Please don't rate the event, or just rate it 5 if you must. Thank you.
