Center City Alleyways

The main area we will explore is this alleyway walk will be Queen Village.
From Reading Terminal we will zip through Chinatown, past Independence Hall, then take alleyways though Society Hill to Head House Square. Here we head south, zigzagging for several miles to see what's new in the Queen Village area. We will probably make it down to the Italian Market and then head west and north on small streets back to Reading Terminal.

Plan to walk for 2.5-3 hours at a moderate pace. The terrain is flat.
We will find a neat inexpensive place to eat. Probably Whole Foods or another inexpensive place nearby. Maybe Nam Phuong, 1100 Washington Ave. Comes highly recommended.

We will meet outside the Downhome Diner at Reading Terminal. Use this Google Map link to the starting point. http://local.google.c...

To carpool from Hill House (201 W Evergreen, 19118) meet at 10am. Each carpooler chips in $2 at the start. Make sure to email me if you want to carpool. Here's a Google Map link to Hill House.

We had 20-25 folks bopping around center city alleyways. Came across some neat places in the Queen Village area including some houses from 1760 and Gloria Del Rei Church which dates to around 1700. We also came across the old Curtis Pub building, Independence Hall, The Philadelphia Exchange, First and Second Banks of the US, US Exchange Bldg, visited Carpenters Hall and an open house in Queen Village. Great day.

A great walk on a beautiful day. Saw lots of quirky little alleyway neighborhoods, spoke to the owners of a lovely historical town home in one alley, and attended an "open house" for a "remodeled" town home in another alley (the "crazy staircase" house for those of you who were there).
