Cool Wissahickon Schuylkill Loop
The Wissahickon Schuylkill Loop is a 12-14 mile hike through many different environments. Two areas we pass through are beautiful Chestnut Hill and the Wissahickon. Other areas include Roxborough, Manayunk, the canal path along the Schuylkill which are interesting. About halfway through the hike we stop in Manayunk for lunch. Bring your own or get a bite at one of 20 restaurants.
With a stop for lunch we plan to be back before 5 pm. We will walk for about 2-2.5 hours before Manayunk and about the same afterwards. So we will walk between 4 and 5 hours. You can meet us in Manayunk around 1-1:30pm if you only want to do half of the hike. Get someone's cell number.
There are at least 20 different loops we can take. And it's possible to do half the hike by meet ing us in Manayunk or bailing out in Manayunk. Here is Saturday's route:
We cross the Wissahickon Valley going down .5 miles and then up for about the same. We cross Roxborough on streets for about a mile then head down to the Schuylkill for about .75 miles. We then walk right along the Schuylkill for about 2-3 miles to Manayunk.
We eat at Manayunk, then continue heading through Manayunk to the Wissahickon. The route here is part flat and part uphill. The nicest part of the hike is our path through the Wissahickon for about 4 miles. Some small ups and downs at first. Eventually we will take a gradual up hill path back to Hill House.

Make sure to bring:
• Lots of water, I drink 1 liter per hour in warm weather
• Some food. An apple is great.
• Your camera
