This is a great day for the 12 mile hike to the city because we can go right through the largest high school regatta in country. Maybe even watch some races. Flowers and trees will be blooming all around Chestnut Hill and the Wissahickon. Even Kelly Drive should be colorful.
We start from Hill House in Chestnut Hill and weave our way through Chestnut Hill and the Wissahickon to Kelly Drive. We head down Kelly Drive which should be closed to cars because of the regatta. We head past the races, the boat houses, the azalea gardens next to the Art Museum and stop at Whole Foods for a bite.
We then head onward to Reading Terminal and Chinatown where we can shop before taking the R7 or R8 back to Chestnut Hill. Those who survive are invited over for a drink.
We meet at Hill House.

Make sure to bring your camera! The Wissahickon and area will be super!
Warm weather hike info:
1- Put on sun bloc before leaving home.
2- For hikes in a park it's best to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants for protection against bugs, thorn bushes, poison ivy, etc. I'm often regretful when I don't take my own advice.
3- Bring lots of water. Best to get a 3 liter hydration pack or reservoir.
4- Only a forecast of thunderstorms and torrential rains will cancel a hike. A normal rain is no problem in warm weather.
Two days before the event I usually email a weather update. To see more about the weather visit: http://www.hikingarou...
Have your event fee ready in dollar bills so we can get going right away. No coins, dubloons, or 5's or 10"s. Thank you.
Please be aware of our group rating system. We need 5 stars ratings or no rating. http://www.hikingarou...

Fido will be a problem because we are taking the train home.
