Explore White Clay Creek State Park

White Clay Creek it a large park located in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. Most of the trail system is in loops in Delaware, but the Pennsylvania part is larger and may be more beautiful. I've been there once before and it changed my life- it's a long story.

We will walk for 3.5 to 4.5 hours on a route designed by a member of Friends of White Clay Creek Park. It's hilly in parts. I expect to go 8-12 miles. There's a neat pub, Blackstones, about one mile from our starting point where we can get a cool one after the hike.

We will meet at the Possum Hill Parking area at this Google Map link.

To carpool from Hill House (201 W Evergreen, 19118) meet at 1015am. Each carpooler chips in $9 at the start. Make sure to email me if you want to carpool. Here's a Google Map link to Hill House.

Always good idea to bring some food and your camera.
Warm weather hike info:
1- Put on sun bloc before leaving home.
2- For hikes in a park it's best to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants for protection against bugs, thorn bushes, poison ivy, etc. I'm often regretful when I don't take my own advice.
3- Bring lots of water. Best to get a 3 liter hydration pack or reservoir.
4- Only a forecast of thunderstorms and torrential rains will cancel a hike. A normal rain is no problem in warm weather.

Two days before the event I usually email a weather update. To see more about the weather visit: http://www.hikingarou...

Have your event fee ready in dollar bills so we can get going right away. No coins, dubloons, or 5's or 10"s. Thank you.

Please be aware of our group rating system. We need 5 stars ratings or no rating. http://www.hikingarou...

If you change your mind please change your RSVP. No-shows may be barred from events. Email or call if you have a problem.

Okay to bring fido. Please read the Doggy Page first: http://www.hikingarou...

Great day. 4.5 hours of non-stop hiking on super trails. We will go back and park in a free lot in PA or MD. The largest parts of this park area may be in PA or MD. By the way, the Google Map link in the write up is to the Nine Foot Road parking area, not the Possum Hill parking area.

Great weather. Most of the trail was very "civilized." At the beginning we zig-zagged between the woods and some open fields where there were a lot of flowers blooming. Later in the day, we ventured onto a less-civilized trail that was narrow and hilly and apparently hadn't been touched by anyone in quite some time. It was quite an adventure. Total distance: approximately 11 miles (might be more -- battery in GPS had to be replaced part way through).
