Green Lane Ramble

Green Lane Park (map)

Selected By: Sidney G

There are several really neat things about Green Lane Park. One, most trails run right along the water, a reservoir that stretches for 6-7 miles. Two, these trails are anything but straight; they weave left and right following the water, and go up and down like a roller coaster. Three, there are lots of neat areas tucked away within the 52 plus miles of water perimeter. And we always find new things like Apple Caramel Cream Cheese Cake that we purchased (and polished off) at a bakery in route.

For this 3-4 hour hike we meet at the south end of the park near what I think is the main park office. See the link below. We'll head north and east, crossing the reservoir to explore an area near the gigantic dam, maybe 200 feet, that they try to keep hidden. If the trails look good here, we'll continue to explore. Otherwise, we will cross the reservoir again and walk on the other side of the dam.
I should add, that we will be in the shade about 95% of the time.

Use this Google Map link to the starting point. Meet on the right side of the parking lot close to the road. http://local.google.c...

To carpool from Hill House (201 W Evergreen, 19118) meet at 1030am. Each carpooler chips in $5 at the start. Make sure to email me if you want to carpool. Here's a Google Map link to Hill House.

Always good idea to bring some food, your camera, and on hot days a dry shirt that you can change into.
Warm weather hike info:
-- Put on sunscreen before leaving home. See more about sunscreens under Files.
-- For hikes in a park it's best to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants for protection against bugs, thorn bushes, poison ivy, etc. I'm often regretful when I don't take my own advice.
-- Bring lots of water. Best to get a 3 liter hydration pack or reservoir. More about water: http://www.hikingarou...

If the weather is iffy I'll email a weather report a few days before the hike.. To see more about the weather visit: http://www.hikingarou...

Have your event fee ready in dollar bills so we can get going right away. No coins, dubloons, or 5's or 10"s. Thank you.

Please be aware of our group rating system. We need a 5 star rating or no rating. Read more about this at: http://www.hikingarou...

If you change your mind please change your RSVP. No-shows may be barred from events. Email or call if you have a problem.

Okay to bring fido. Please read the Doggy Page first: http://www.hikingarou...
