We have another really big show tonight. Two classics.

1. The first movie, Man On Wire, we never got to see last week because we socialized too much. It's rated as one of the best movies of all time and won the Academy Award as best documentary.

2. The second feature, Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, is an Academy Award winning B, low budget, sci fi movies from the fifties. It's actually good and lots of fun to watch. I've also downloaded The Blob, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, Them!, and Day The World Ended. I can be persuaded to change.

Bring food to share. Bring boos if you want to drink. I will make some dynamite real popcorn for the movie. Empty handers chip in $3.

There is a limit for this event because I live in an apartment and only so many folks can comfortably watch a movie. If you just want to hike don't sign up, just email me.

Very nice! Sidney is a great host! The movie was good; "Man on a Wire". The french guy in the movie is somewhat insane.

Hiking Around Philly is different from most hiking groups because we hike (and sometimes bicycle) off the beaten path. We hike in the woods and the city. We go places that won't be found on any hiker's map. The events are usually within a 1.5 hour drive from Philly, though we sometimes visit NYC or the Jersey shore. Once each year we go to Acadia National Park in Maine, one of the best places in the world to hike. We sometimes participate in a conservation work party in a area we hike.

And, we do a lot more than hike; we explore. Whether it be a trail in a park or a back alley in the city, we always look for neat things, and we find them. Did you notice the 25 foot dinosaur made from pink suntan lotion bottles? We take time to appreciate a beautiful tree, a low flying eagle, or a hickory horned devil (look it up). We visit museums, historic houses, bakeries, battleships, and other neat places. We appreciate architecture, sculptures (Philly has more than any other US city, yea!), or whatever we find near our path. After a hike we often eat at a special place. And, we rarely repeat ourselves.

Fearless lost explorers and sidney (fleas) are curious. This group is not for people content to only go down one trail and up another, nor for people happy to take the same or beaten path. This group may also be different because only one person leads hikes, gets folks lost, and does the bulk of administrative work. So, please read on to make sure you want to be a proud flea.
