Glen Onoko Falls

Glen Onoko Access (map)

Selected By: Sidney G

Glen Onoko Falls in the Jim Thorpe, PA area is a beautiful place to visit. The falls are spectacular and the fall colors might be great this time of the year.

The hike starts with a 1-1.5 hour steep climb or walk up the falls. I regularly need to pull myself up for this part of the hike because it's a steep climb, though not difficult if you take your time. Of course we will often stop to view the various falls. And if it's warm enough, you can get wet. Once on top we will bop around trying not to get too lost for another 2.5 hours. We'll take a gradual trail down. Plan for at least a 4 hour hike.

CAUTION: You need to be in good shape for this. If you haven't recently hiked at least 7 hilly miles, then you should first try one of our shorter duration hikes.

Use this Google Map link to the starting point. http://local.google.c...
Because the Google Map does not seem to show the access road, I'm listing several other map links. (My blue location marker is in the correct place.)

Always good idea to bring some food, your camera, and on hot days a dry shirt that you can change into.
Warm weather hike info:
• Apply sunscreen before leaving home. See more about sunscreens under Files.
• On real hot days, bring an umbrella for the sun. Highly recommend: http://www.campmor.co...
• For hikes in a park it's best to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants for protection against bugs, thorn bushes, poison ivy, etc. I'm often regretful when I don't take my own advice.
• Bring lots of water. Best to get a 3 liter hydration pack or reservoir. More about water: http://www.hikingarou...
• Only a forecast of thunderstorms and torrential rains will cancel a hike. A normal rain is no problem in warm weather.

color=orangered]If the weather is iffy I'll email a weather report a few days before the hike.. To see more about the weather visit: http://www.hikingarou...

Have your event fee ready in dollar bills so we can get going right away. Pay a one time calendar year fee instead. For more info visit: http://www.hikingarou...

Please be aware of our group rating system. We need a 5 star rating or no rating. Read more about this at: http://www.hikingarou...

If you change your mind please change your RSVP. No-shows may be barred from events. Email or call if you have a problem.

Okay to bring fido. Please read the Doggy Page first: http://www.hikingarou...
