Finding The Starting Spot
Quite often the address for the starting point is not clear because it's at a remote parking lot. Other times the address is clear, but the exact meeting spot is not. To make things easier, in the write-up I usually include a Google Map link pinpointing the exact spot where we meet. The link is in satellite view, so you can actually see what the area looks like. Change to map view in Google Maps to get directions to the starting point from your home.
Often folks are confused with the Location at the top of the event write-up and the Google Map Link in the write up. The Location is often a park office, not the actual meeting place in the park. Or the Location could be at large building or parking lot or area. Even with the exact address, you still need to know exactly where we will meet around the building or lot. The Google Map link always supplies the most detailed information. Location via Meetup site is often problematic.
Here are 3 examples:
1- A parking lot on the Princeton University Campus may have an address that is difficult to find. The lot may not even have an address. The lot is a block long with an inside part and an outside part. On a Google Map link I can pinpoint the exact spot where we meet.
2- Reading Terminal in Philly is quite large. To meet there we need an exact spot. On a Google Map I can put an X close to where we will meet. Location just gets you somewhere around Reading Terminal.
3- Green Lane Park has about 10 parking lots, some 5 miles from the other. Location gets you to the main park office. A Google Map link gives the exact parking lot location.
In the Location area I usually say, "Use the Google Map link, not this address."
