Water, Water, Water

Water
Boy, can I tell you a story! The injuries that prevented me from running for several years were due to lack of hydration. The back pain that I endured for 12 years was exacerbated by lack of hydration. Of course I saw doctors about these matters and went to rehab without success.
Only after I started to properly hydrate did I notice that my back was feeling a whole lot better. In one case, after drinking 2 liters of water on hike, a painful backache went away. I then connected the back problem to the running problem which involved leg muscles. After 1 month of adequate hydration I was running. That was over 6 months ago and I'm still running with no trace of the previous problem.

I also noticed several other benefits from drinking an adequate amount of water.
• One, my gums and teeth felt better. Several areas that were sensitive to hot or cold or to biting food like an apple were no longer sensitive. Took a while to notice this.
• Two, I never tire-out on a hike where I drink lots of water.
• Three, I do not get leg cramps when I drink lots of water.

Unfortunately drinking lots of water did not make me rich, famous, handsome, or younger, so you need to look elsewhere for remedies to these problems.

I highly suggest a hydration pack over bottles, because it's a more convenient way to drink while hiking. Get the largest reservoir size - 3 liters. You can always fill it part way if you want less water. I now own three different sized hydration packs each with a 3-liter reservoir.
